Avieon’s video post processing IP offers
the best real time super resolution implementation for
improving image quality of low-resolution video and still
images. In numerous computer display applications, enhancing
the quality and resolution of captured video can be critical.
Acquired video is often grainy / blurry and/or low quality
due to motion, transmission bottlenecks, etc. Avieon’s
Post-processing IP can greatly decrease blur to deliver
a clear, smooth, sharp, high quality video. |
One of the
most important aspects of a good image is that the subject
looks good. People, and in particular faces, are often
the primary subject of an image. Attention is usually
drawn to the faces, and people tend to have definite opinions
regarding how a face should appear. This is particularly
true if the face in the video is of someone they know
- not to mention their own. Viewers prefer facial details
such as eyes, lips and hairline to be crisp, healthy skin
colors are naturally preferred over sickly looking ones.
Avieon’s patent pending Skin Tone correction algorithm
automatically improves the appearance of faces in images
/ video. |

Designers can develop a
system that displays low-resolution images / video crisply
on high-resolution panels by integrating Avieon’s Super
Resolution IP on chip between the display driver and application
processor. A graphics or video controller system contains
several components, Avieon offers a programmable IP that
provides the flexibility to the designers to easily embed
it into existing systems. Avieon IP can be added to a
variety of different areas in a display system such as;
Display Module, Graphics Controller, Application processors
and Microcontroller. This flexibility offers fast system
development, enabling designers to concentrate on the
application. Avieon breakthrough IP utilizes Single Frame
Super Resolution along with Debluring and Skin Tone detection
and correction to achieve the optimum balance of cost
and performance. Single frame reduces the memory buffering
and computational resources needed, since all analyzing
and processing information is contained in one frame of
data, compared to Multi-Frame Super Resolution, which
requires external memories, which makes the solution more
expensive and impractical for real time consumer applications. |
The framework Avieon utilizes
is based on a fresh understanding of sampling, which uses
the notions of functionals and continuous dual spaces.
Due to its suitability and usefulness in image processing,
we employ a method that also belongs to the functional
interpolation category. We decompose a local image patch
into multiple components to reconstruct the discontinuities
between neighboring ones, using a efficient and robust
method. Our method generates SR images with good perceptual
quality but requires relatively less processing time.
Hence it is suitable for computation-inexpensive environments
and real-time Super Resolution applications.
