Overview Management

Aamir Farooqui Ph.D.
Chief Technology Officer

Aamir has over 17 years of working experience in the field of high performance Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) design, low power multimedia signal processing, EDA, and VLSI design. At Avieon, he developed the world’s smallest, lowest power, and fully programmable Media Processor, ISA. The Media processor IP solution and multi-media application software suite (supporting MPEG2, MPEG4, H.264, VC1, AVS CODECs) offers 4-8X power-performance improvement over hardwired and programmable solutions.

Previously, at Synopsys and Magma Design Automation, he developed the world’s fastest and smallest adders and multipliers, used in Design Compiler (DC), Module Complier (MC), and Blast Create RTL Synthesis tools. As a consultant for Bluesteel Networks he developed the ISA of the world’s fastest RSA processor that led to the acquisition of Bluesteel Networks by Broadcom in $260M, in 1999. At SONY LSI Research Labs, he was involved in data-path design and verification of a high performance 128-bit future generation multimedia processor. This research work culminated in numerous patents and publications and eventually became the company’s trade secret. He received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Architecture in 1999 from University of California, Davis. Currently, he is enrolled in the Stanford Certified Program Management (SCPM) certification program at Stanford University.
